Jean-Pierre van der Spuy (ARAD)

Jean-Pierre is a theatre director and has worked for Sir Cameron Mackintosh for the past 11 years. He is currently directing the UK tour of Miss Saigon before he heads to Japan to direct Mary Poppins! He is the director of Barnum which is currently touring UK starring Brian Conley and Linzi Hately and he is also the Associate Director on Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre and Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Thetare in the West End. He was the Associate Director of the highly acclaimed UK Touring production of Oliver! and the 25th Anniversary Concert of Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall and was also the Childrens Director on Mary Poppins (West End) and the Resident Director on the UK Tour of Miss Saigon.
Jean-Pierre trained as a dancer in his home country of South Africa and then studied at the Guildford School of Acting graduating with a BA Hons. As a performer he has worked on numerous west end shows including Notre Dame de Paris, Grease and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Jean-Pierre presents regular workshops and has been a guest teacher and director at various leading drama schools. "The sense of satisfaction when working with vibrant, committed and enthusiastic children is second to none and I believe imparting passion for the Arts in youngsters is vital in producing the next generation of performers and theatre goers." Jean-Pierre is a highly experienced teacher with a wealth of knowledge in theatre and dance and alongside Sadie commits to sharing that knowledge with vitality and care.
